The TEKS I will be targeting are:
(11) Reading/Comprehension of Informational Text/Procedural Texts. Students understand how to glean and use information in procedural texts and documents. Students are expected to:
(A) evaluate the logic of the sequence of information presented in text (e.g., product support material, contracts); and
(B) translate (from text to graphic or from graphic to text) complex, factual, quantitative, or technical information presented in maps, charts, illustrations, graphs, time lines, tables, and diagrams.
(13) Writing/Writing Process. Students use elements of the writing process (planning, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing) to compose text. Students are expected to:
(A) plan a first draft by selecting the correct genre for conveying the intended meaning to multiple audiences, determining appropriate topics through a range of strategies (e.g., discussion, background reading, personal interests, interviews), and developing a thesis or controlling idea;
(B) structure ideas in a sustained and persuasive way (e.g., using outlines, note taking, graphic organizers, lists) and develop drafts in timed and open-ended situations that include transitions and rhetorical devices to convey meaning;
(C) revise drafts to clarify meaning and achieve specific rhetorical purposes, consistency of tone, and logical organization by rearranging the words, sentences, and paragraphs to employ tropes (e.g., metaphors, similes, analogies, hyperbole, understatement, rhetorical questions, irony), schemes (e.g., parallelism, antithesis, inverted word order, repetition, reversed structures), and by adding transitional words and phrases;
(D) edit drafts for grammar, mechanics, and spelling; and
(E) revise final draft in response to feedback from peers and teacher and publish written work for appropriate audiences.
Goal Assignments for ELA:
1. Create a procedural thing*, over a topic of your choice. (topic must be approved by teacher) thing* - can refer to essay, brochure, graphic design, or maybe you have another idea, ask teacher for approval.
2. Begin the "writing process" on your procedral thing. Topic choice and design due by end of week 1.
3. Discuss topic ideas in groups and give each other feedback on what you like and what you would like to see in thier project.
4. Students must begin structuring their ideas in a persuasive way. Must be done using a graphic organizer of students choice of format or a provided format. Due at end of week 2 with a rough draft constructed.
5. Students will have rough drafts first edited by teacher. Another draft will be due on thursday with revisions corrected and self evalution. On friday of week 3, peer editing will take place.
6. Final drafts will be finished in last week and turned in by wednesday. On results will be given back on friday and top projects will be proudly shown to the English Department Head.
Goal Assignments for Marching Class: Construction of a show.
Week 1:
Learn marching drill for first piece of music and play part one of the show for a grade on friday.
Week 2:
Learn marching drill for second piece of music and play part one memorized and part two with music sheet on friday.
Week 3:
Learn marching drill for last piece of music, play part one and two memorized. Test on marching and playing part one, and marching the second and last piece but not playing.
Week 4:
Put the entire show together.

Goal Assignments for Electrical Trades: Wire an indoor/outdoor residential, model home.
Week 1:
Learn what the home owner wants and see if it is compliant with the code.
Week 2:
Run wire inside home.
Week 3:
Run conduit and outside connections.
Week 4:
Finalize all work inside and outside the model home.
